OBAMA WINS, KLEIN IN?

Barack Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States. His election is one of the greatest moments in American history, as he becomes the first person of African-American decent to reach this plateau.

 

Not only was this a special moment in American history, but also world history as news of his victory sparked off world-wide celebrations, largely unprecedented in modern American elections.

 

The union believes that President-elect Obama will continue to fight for the rights of unionists and educators. In addition, he will undo the harm done to our most needy children by NCLB.

 

As the President-elect tries to figure out his cabinet, many names, some familiar, have come up as shortlist candidates for Secretary of Education- including Joel Klein!

 

As you can imagine, the union has a strong opposition to this (even though we believe that it will not happen). Please voice your opinions or opposition to a possible Klein nomination at the following website:www.petitiononline.com/campd227/petition.html. (I am signature 1627.) A resolution was passed to share the  surveys, reflecting the negative staff opinion on the Klein Administration.
