-Teachers who conduct any IEP conferences on their preps should be compensated for missing that preparatory period.
- Make sure all your students have an updated IEP. Teachers who receive outdated IEPs should be allowed time to write a current IEP. Students with missing IEPs should be reported to your site administrator ASAP. If you already have, then please let me know.
-IEPs are legal documents and should be written collaboratively. Related Service Providers have primary responsibility for writing the reports and goals for the service they provide (see p.66 of the SOPM).
-Teachers are encouraged to file a Special Education complaint form at www.uft.org when a child’s mandates are not being met, or if they are missing IEPs. This is for YOUR protection and will speed up the process. It is a short and easy form. You may contact me if you have questions about this process.
-Each site should have a “district representative” who attends the IEP conference. You should know who that person is. If you don’t, ask your site administrator.
