The new school year is on the way and there is a lot to do. In order for us to effectively serve our students, we need to make sure that some things are in place. Help me to help you!
First, make sure that you have a copy of every child’s IEP that is currently in your class. If you have not received an IEP for a child, please make your immediate supervisor aware of it. If the IEP does not show up in a week, let me know and I will follow up on the issue.
Once you receive the IEPs, review the cover and services page to make sure that students in need of bus and classroom paraprofessionals have that person in place, and that the child is in the right program. If there are any issues, send me an e-mail. Include the child’s name, ID number and the issue for follow up. It is important that I am aware of this. Related service providers should also be aware of special mandates on IEPs.
Review your teaching program. Make sure that your prep and professional activity periods are accounted for. For teachers in standard assessment, let me know if you have more than three teaching assignments in a row. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Is safety a concern at your site?
