Many of you are concerned about your pensions and other investments. Those of you who attended the Pension workshops at PS 180 and Adelphi St. hopefully got most of your questions answered. PS 238 will have a pension speaker in March.

Members should call (718) 852 4900 to schedule a consultation meeting at least once every five years. Only trained pension personnel can give pension advice. However, I can tell you that your pension is protected by State law and must be paid despite the state of the economy.

 

To date there has been no early buy out program for members of the UFT. While this may be a possibility, it is definitely not true at this time. Should that change, I will let you know.

 

Finally, there is speculation about the future of our program. Many of you have been around long enough to know that site closings and relocations do not usually occur overnight. As far as I know, there are no site closings confirmed for this year. Chapter 683 will be at PS180 this summer.

 

As decisions are confirmed, I will let you know. Until then, they are all rumors.
