DEMAND FOR STUDENT GOALS
Since quality review has began, it seems that many principals have been asking staff to have a student goal developed for each child, and at times, posted on the child’s desk. If you have been asked to create individual student goals (with exception to IEP goals), please e-mail me @ cl231k@aol.com
PAID PREP PERIODS
If you must conference an IEP (annual review, triennial, etc.), attend a case conference, or attend a professional development as mandated by your supervisor, you are entitled to a paid preparatory period if the meeting occurs during your preparatory period and coverage was not provided. This is a paid prep regardless of whether it is the first prep lost of the term.
Losing a prep period should only happen in the case of an emergency and the proper compensation must be provided. You should request a paid prep slip from your supervisor. The first lost prep per term is free in emergency coverage situations.
RELATED SERVICES
Related Service Providers and/or teachers should file a Special Education Complaint form if a child is not receiving the services mandated by the IEP. This includes not meeting the required number of sessions of service. We need to make sure that we are in compliance.
